Question
I am interested in starting a premium rate service, but have this dilemma which I very much hope you can help me with. I want to have a international premium rate phone number in the UK, I say international because I want access to this number from the Rep of Ireland, and only the Rep of Ireland, I understand how premium rate works with in the UK, but am not clear on international premium rate numbers from Rep of Ireland to the UK. I have seen the international premium rate number 00290…. from the Rep of Ireland to the UK, and would like if you could tell me how I to can get a 00290…. number, and what revenue could I expect from a 00290…. number, and wouid that international premium rate number be subject to the regulator in the UK if its not a live service.
I would be so grateful to you if you answer these questions clearly for me.
Answer
The best option is to get an Irish premium rate phone number and then have the calls delivered through to your location in the UK – for details of operating a premium rate phone service in Ireland contact Regtel – details for this can be found at http://www.premiumphoneservices.com/articles/premium-rate-phone-regulators/
This way you will get a much better payout rate than using an 00 290 phone number.

Question – I wanted to ask if I can operate a premium rate telephone service aimed at expats in spain, can i use 0906 numbers over here and will the clients pay more as the calls will be from overseas. Alternatively can you offer a spanish premuim rate number for this, i would like to have 2 types of service, ringtones, and vitual chat (message exchange and connnections) like maleforce! Again is this something you can help me with, there is huge potential for this here and would be very grateful if you can offer some advice on this, many thanks, Oliver
Answer – the services we provide are only for callers within the UK (you cannot call a UK 090 numbers from Spain). What you would need is a Spanish 090 number or an international premium rate phone number. To help you with this take a look at this website www.premiumphoneservices.com
Question –
I want to set up 20p a call service as i am planning to launch community service type chat . My initial plan is to set up up 10 ten different lines .
Answer –
If you wish to set up a chat service there are specific rules from the regulators you must comply with for a chat service.
Also by only charging 20p/min for your calls you will only be receiving back 11p/min for the calls you receive.

Question - can premium rate phone calls automatically be capped at £30 , i.e. if the caller was charge £1.50/min, but reached the £30 the caller wouldn’t be charged more than £30 even if the call went on more than the 20 or 30 min.
Answer – all premium rate calls are charged per minute. So if the call lasts 20 minutes and is charged at £1.50/min – the cost to the caller will be £30. If the call lasted 19 minutes the caller would be charged 19 X £1.50/min = £28.50.
So the answer is no – calls cannot be capped – they are charged always on a per minute basis.
