24 Hour Service
A recent survey showed that businesses which offer a 24 hour phone number

The same service can equally be offered for a Local Entertainment Guide,
Shopping Bargains & Sales Guide, or Job Opportunities, etc.
In each case, although the information is available from other sources, at a
lower cost, none offers such a convenient and immediate method of obtaining
the information as picking up the phone and ringing a telephone information
service.

SPECIAL INTERESTS - NICHE MARKETS
Services which offer information of particular interest to the caller are very
popular. For example, most people can read their daily horoscopes in the
newspaper. Nevertheless, many highly successful horoscope lines exist.

he simply keys in the figure on his phone pad. That information is filed by the
computer in its database. Likewise, if he wishes to sell he can leave his details
with the price.

Teletrade charges a 4% commission on the price of any coins which are sold
through the system. Callers can buy, sell or exchange coins via the phone-in
system and have delivery within days.

Teletrade provides a totally electronic trading system that gives callers the
information they need when they want it. Teletrade's telephone information
service provides up-to-the-minute prices on the coins available. And the
information is only a phone call away - any time of the day or night.
Provided you can offer a service that is of particular interest to a section of the
public, people will gladly pay a premium for the service.
Ideally, you should aim to offer information that is not so readily available anywhere
else.

Keep your mind open for a service that the public might want or need. Ask your
friends and business associates what they consider would be a useful service.
Check the newspapers, particularly the adverts.

LOCAL INFORMATION SERVICES
A successful information service does not have to be advertised nationally.
There is a whole range of services that can be profitably operated in a local
area. An example is a local Dating Service. Single people looking for new
friends are mainly interested in people living in their area. Few are prepared to
travel for more than half an hour.
Other examples of possible local services are:
* A hotline offering up to the minute details of local properties for sale.
* A job line offering updated. information on local opportunities
* An entertainment hot-line.
* A service that lists the garages offering the biggest discounts on new cars.
